La Academia Discover opened in the academic course 2001/2002 and since then our main objective and passion has been to achieve a high standard of education, offering our team and students all the advice and assistance they need to achieve their goals. Our staff is made up of 4 teachers and a secretary. There are currently 350 students enrolled in our English classes.
We belong to the Arbitration System for Consumers from the Andalucian Government.
LOCATION
We are located in Lucena, in the province of Cordoba, Andalucia. Lucena is a dynamic and lively town with a population of 45,000 people. Our city is ideally located in the centre of Andalucia, only 35min, 1 hour and 1 ½ hours away from Cordoba, Malaga and Sevilla, respectively. Our academy is ideally situated in the city centre, next to the city hall and the heart and soul of our town.
FACILITIES
All the classes are fully equipped with the necessary teaching resources. Each classroom has its own whiteboard, noticeboard, CD player and air conditioning. We also offer a photocopier, laser printer, computer, TV and DVD player, resource materials for general, FCE and business English, games, flashcards, and a wide range of specialized books.
METHODOLOGY
At the beginning of each school year, all teachers are given information about the classes and the background of the students. We offer English classes to children from ages 4 to 12, teenagers from 13 to 18 and adults. We also prepare students for the First Certificate Exam. Teachers will either specialize in teenagers and adults or children exclusively, making the process of class preparation easier and more productive.
We are looking for effective and highly professional teachers and we expect them to dedicate time to class preparation and organization. Their duties are to prepare and give classes with energy and clear objectives, establish a clear teaching pattern, write term reports three times a year and contribute positively to our school image and reputation. Teachers are checked through attendance sheets, short talks and meetings, all in a constructive and pleasant atmosphere where we help our teachers become more confident and comfortable with their job at our school. Therefore, teacher guidance and support is one of our top priorities.
TIMETABLE
Classes take place between 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM, Monday through Thursday and 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Fridays. The school year begins in October and ends mid June. Teacher training begins 1 week before the school year starts (last week of September).
JOB INFORMATION
For the upcoming academic year we are looking for a highly motivated teacher who is willing to work with dedication and enthusiasm and become an important part of our team. The ideal applicant is a person with experience teaching teenagers and the First Certificate.
Teachers are given a Teacher’s Manual where they can find all the necessary information needed to work in our Language School. There, they can find essential information such as their duties, administrative matters, attendance sheets and reports, trimester objectives, and exams dates. Teachers are given accommodation assistance as well.
Our competitive salary starts at 1,200 €/ month (tax free salary) for 25 contact hours per week. There are two, end of the contract bonuses as well.
PAID HOLIDAYS: Teachers receive approximately two weeks holiday at Christmas, 1 week at Easter and 3 days during our local fair. We also observe all official local, regional and national holidays.
We offer full national health and social security coverage and our contracts are according to Spanish labour law for the private teaching sector.
REQUIREMENTS
Successful Applicants will need:
· Either a BA or MA in the following majors: English or Bilingual Studies (ESL); and/or the CELTA Teaching Certificate; minimum 1 year of teaching experience; and experience in teaching FCE
· Must be native English speakers
· Must hold a European passport
